The Matchbox Series of work is influenced by a set of matchboxes which were originally commissioned by a Dutch supermarket in the 1950’s. By re-appropriating the designs on these matchboxes, Varley’s work aim’s to celebrate the once romantic notion of air travel. The print is hand screen printed on 300 gsm uncoated paper stock, signed and numbered.
