Gerhardt Gallagher was born in Waterford and educated at de La Salle College and UCD. Gallagher studied the painting and printing disciplines at Waterford Technical College, NCAD, Blackchurch and Airfield Studios. His works often begin as drawings and are developed into oils, acrylics, watercolours, aquatint and drypoint etching.
Gallagher has exhibited since the’60s, 18 of which were solo or two person shows. Alongside this Gallagher has had numerous group and open exhibitions Ireland and abroad (France, Canada, China).
Venues include: Galleries – Dye House and Greyfriars Municipal, Waterford, Kennedy, Malton , Combridges, RHA and Bective, Dublin, Kennys, Galway, Grace O Malley, Westport. Art Centres – Garter Lane, Dundalk, Castlebar, James Joyce, Ranelagh – Also – Irish Life, Microsoft, Arnotts, BOI ,Liberty Hall, Goethe Institute, Glucksman Library UL, Rathfarnham, OPW Heritage Centre Phoenix Park.
