Clare O'Connor, Navigating the Labyrinth Series no. 2

O’Connor’s practice is playful and experimental in approach, as can be seen by her use of layering different techniques. The fusing of bold, bright colours and the contrasting stripes are brought together by her energetic mark making. Her work is process based and intuitive, with her most recent practice toying with the dynamic interplay of organic and organized forms, complimentary and contrasting colour and repeated shapes, which when played off each other attempt to communicate a heightened sense of visual energy and create a unique and viscerally eclectic experience for the viewer. O’Connor works through various mediums with particular emphasis on Painting, Printmaking and Photography and combinations of all three.

In the past year O’Connor has created a series of paintings and etched prints combined with layers of paint and collage. The Navigating the Labyrinth series is influenced by the city of Venice, an interest in the levels of consciousness and the way in which we navigate our minds.
