Steetley Magnesite from the series Industrial Ruin. Since the industrial revolution the burning of fossil fuels has led to our current globalised world. Progress has consistently demanded the burning of ever more resources to the point that climate change is happening on levels never witnessed, our environment and way of life seem to be on a collision course. This project looks at the landscape of energy in the UK, a country which was one of the first to industrialise. It contrasts the legacy of past industrial projects with current methods of energy extraction, those that exist and the more extreme that are coming online. It raises questions about whether this constant need for progress is necessarily always a good thing.
